Barn Owl.17.6.13.

A disappointing session photography wise this evening. But can't complain about being able to watch this bird hunt over a huge area at the corner of four fields of scrub.

A Very Early Morning At Far Ings.4.6.13.

A few hours at Far Ings this morning. I started very early to avoid the atmospheric haze which quickly develops on warm days. From the top a Common Tern, then an hour following a Barn Owl and my all time passion the Marsh Harrier. Was lucky to get this bird hunting this morning where I wanted it. All things come to those who wait? Well I've done plenty of that on this species. It's pleasing to get a few decent shots with decent light. Could have done with the bird a little closer but its rare to get everything your own way in wildlife photography.

Goldcrest at Far Ings Nature Reserve 26.4.13.

My first outing in a while now. Nice to find a few Goldcrest on the reserve in nice light with only a few leaves blocking the light

Tennis Elbow a pain.

Hi to all who view or follow my blog. Just to let you all know I am suffering badly now with tennis elbow. I've been trying to get this to improve by avoind carrying my big lens and camera around. That's meant no outings in quite a while. I hope to get out as soon as I get better. At the moment things are not looking good. I may try a day next week and see how it goes, so check back here soon.
Best regards,
Howard.

Goldcrest at Far Ings 9.11.12.

Spent a few hours walking the entire patch yesterday and today looking for waxwings to no avail. So I settled down sat on the ground on the edge of some thorn bushes waiting for long tailed tits coming past bringing the Goldcrests. Managed just one shot worth keeping which believe me is a good day on this species. Constantly on the move they frustrate me so much, but I love the reward of a shot of one when I get it. Saw a couple of Jays today again but didn't manage a shot. I'm sure Jays have had a good breeding season this year. I've seen far more this last week or so than I have in previous entire winters.

Goldcrest Far Ings 13.10.12.

First decent shots of the autum. I must be mad to keep chasing this species, it's one that's sure to make you want to to throw your camera as far as you can at times. It's so difficult to pin down shots of this species. Nice to get some today, albeit ISO 1000 due to the lack of light in the woods at the moment. That will improve once the leaves fall.

Common Kingfisher Far Ings 8.10.12.

A trip out today between more pressing chores to see if I could catch sight of a kingfisher reported yesterday at Ness lake was not wasted. The bird showed twice and fished in the hour or so I stayed. A sparrowhawk spotted at the other side of the lake did come to try to take the rather noisy Kingfisher as it fished from the posts infront of the hide. Glad that didn't happen as it's the first Kingfisher seen here in a few months.
